Nervous Tics

What it is
A nervous tic is an involuntary, repeated contraction of one or more muscles. Nervous tics often develop in childhood and affect more boys than girls. Tics are often linked with stress, but the cause often remains unknown. Usually, the facial muscles are affected – classically around the eye – to produce repetitive blinking or mouth twitching, but nervous tics can also affect other parts of the body to cause uncontrolled movements of the limbs, shrugging of the shoulders, jerking of the neck, or vocalisations such as grunts.

Self help measures:
Counselling and stress reducing techniques may help.

Applying magnetic patches
Apply a magnetic patch over the affected muscle. Magnetic patches can also be applied to acupuncture points over or near the affected site, as shown in the following illustrations. Select the points which most closely relate to the area involved.
